"Recruitment is Branding"—The DevelopWell Way

One thing that many companies may not recognize when recruiting for an open role is that the way you approach recruitment functions as an extension of your brand.

Your recruitment efforts are just like any other part of your business—they reflect, and build on, your company's image. Recruitment is an exciting opportunity to put yourself out there, share your culture, and highlight why people should want to work with you 🌟

At the same time, the company you partner with to recruit candidates also reflects on your brand, so it's worth thinking about the message you want to send. Let's take a closer look at why thoughtful recruitment matters!

IT'S ESSENTIAL TO LOOK AT RECRUITMENT HOLISTICALLY

What we most want to see happen during any recruitment effort is that the right candidate is matched with the right opportunity, at the right organization. This is critical for long-term success in the role, and it's the reason why there can never be a one-size-fits-all approach—there are too many moving parts to the equation.

What we've seen throughout our work is that when you go through one intentional recruitment process, it shifts things for the future. A system and culture change begins to occur when you look at recruitment holistically, and you'll carry that forward as your company continues to grow.

Here's an example of the type of in-depth questions we'll discuss with you at the start of the process:

🔑 Who are the key stakeholders in your hiring process and how will they be involved?

⚖️ What are your values as an organization? How do you currently reflect them in your job postings and recruitment processes?

🌱 How will the first 30/60/90 days look—and feel—for a candidate if they start?

🚀 If the person in this role is wildly successful, describe what they’d be doing and how they are showing up.

🌈 What practices are in place to reduce bias? What do we need to update or adjust to ensure we're being as inclusive as possible?

👥 What additional support will your managers and team need for this person (or people, if you're hiring for multiple roles)?

Our goal with these discussions is to get very clear on who you are and what type of person you want to attract. We even coach you along the way to be sure you're clear on what you need from each hire; sometimes that might reveal a hiring need that's very different from the one you thought you had, but that's okay! Being able to pivot early in the process is much better than realizing you need to make a change after you hire someone.

PARTNERING WITH DEVELOPWELL SENDS A SIGNAL TO CANDIDATES

Beyond our tailored approach to finding applicants, our reputation also helps us connect with the talent you're looking for.

We have a long history in the nonprofit space—30+ years, to be exact—of fostering relationships with quality people and furthering their growth and advancement. That goes a long way in recruitment!  We're deeply connected within the nonprofit and mission-driven spaces, which sends an instant message to candidates that you're a safe, trustworthy company to work for.

Candidates want to apply to jobs we're recruiting for because they already trust us, and they know that we work with values-aligned orgs. At the same time, organizations know that we attract stellar talent, so they trust us with their placements. It's a circle of trust that helps everyone find meaningful work in the end.
